FEV Engineering familiarized itself with prospects of manufacturing localization at SEZ of Togliatti

The representatives of the international engineering company-developer of powertrains and automotive systems "FEV GmbH" visited Samara region. They took part on May 15 in the meeting under the chairmanship of the minister of economic development, investments and trade in Samara region Alexander Kobenko.

The FEV's employees Olaf Schumann and Pavel Zengler introduced the strategy of their company which is the leader in designing and development of powertrains and automotive systems and it is the provider of modern test and instrumental systems. The one of strategic aims of the company is the continuous contribution to the design and development of new petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains and also alternative engine systems. The company also designs research programs aimed at improving their technology.

In the course of the meeting Alexander Kobenko told about investment potential of Samara region and about realizing projects there. The presentation of SEZ of Togliatti was also holden. The head of SEZ Alexey Pakhomenko also informed of the perspectives which companies can have provided the placement of their manufactures in SEZ. In particular, besides different privileges and preferences, companies are given a chance to localize manufacture in close proximity to the major car assembly plants such as "AVTOVAZ", "GM-AVTOVAZ" by virtue of the advantageous geographical location of the site. The representatives of FEV expressed the interest in the collaboration in the field of construction of engineering centers and exchange of experience in implementing similar projects.

'The one of the most important courses in SEZ's working is the collaboration between the residents of the site. The project of the engineering center FEV was demanded by the companies which place its plants in SEZ, and considering that now 14 out of 17 our residents are auto industry companies. In particular, a company "AZ Powertrain" which is a subsidiary of an Indean company AVTEC Ltd. and Russian company CJSC "ZVD" implements in SEZ its project to produce engines for a new model "Chevrolet Niva" of CJSC "GM-AVTOVAZ" where we would need the developments of FEV, - Alexey Pakhomenko noticed.
