25th Anniversary of Togliatti-Wolfsburg Friendship

In 2016 Toglatti and Wolfsburg celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the cities of Tolyatti and Wolfsburg. To better understand the significance of this event, it should be noted that the city of Wolfsburg was the first sister city of Togliatti. The official signing ceremony of the Agreement on assignment of sister city relations was held on 12th of August, 1991 in Tolyatti.

On this day, the offical representatives of both cities put their signatures to the document. On behalf of Tolgiatti there wereIvan Antonov, Chairman of People's Deputies of the City Council of Togliatti, and Boris Mikel, Chairman of Togliatti City Executive Committee. On behalf of Wolfsburg, there were - WernerSchlimme,Oberbrgermeisterof Wolfsburg, andPeter Lamberg,Oberstadtdirektor of the city of Wolfsburg.

For 25 years, many residents of the two sister cities took part in process of cooperation development between Tolyatti and Wolfsburg. Through the implementation of a large number of joint projects and mutual exchanges in the fields of education, culture, sports, foreign economic relations and the broad social and humanitarian contacts, true friendship has grown and strengthenedbetween the two cities.

February 1, Natalia Khrist, Head of Department of International and Interregional Relations, reported about themain developing projects and achievements of Togliatti-Wolfsburg cooperation and told about the joint long-term partnership and cooperation plans for the current year during the session at the Office of the Mayor of the city of Togliatti.
